Finals are almost here!

Greetings friends!!

I have a few resources to post here for you in case you need them for the final.  Remember our chats - PLAN NOW!  Final exams make a huge difference in your grades and can really help push you up a letter grade and prevent you from failing or getting a low grade.  Start planning now, get organized, get plenty of rest, eat well, and you'll do very well.

The English Exam:  Tips and Techniques

Tuesday - Preparation
  • You will recieve the writing prompt and a blank 4-square outline.
  • Read the prompt carefully.  Highlight the QUESTION.  Your answer to the question will become your THESIS.
  • Begin brainstorming with a "T-Chart".  What are the possible ideas for each side?  The more ideas the better!
  • Choose your side.  Which side can you write the best arguments for?
  • Outline your paper.
    • Write your three topic sentences
    • Choose three different types of evidence
    • Consider how you will analyze each piece of evidence
    • Link back to your thesis
    • Plan your counterargument
    • Plan your introduction
  • Pack up your backpack with the prompt and outline - don't forget to bring these to school!  Ah!
  • Get a good night's rest, drink plenty of water, and set your alarm for the next day!
Wednesday/Thursday - The Final
  • Bring your most comfortable writing utensil.  You will be writing for 60 minutes, so make sure you're comfy!
  • Bring your favorite loose leaf paper -- no ripped pages from a journal.
  • Smile and relax!  Pace yourself as you write, and, since you are so well prepared, you will do a fantastic job :)
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ON YOUR FINALS!
